Product Disclaimer for TripTrack
Description
The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite-based navigation system made up of a network of 24 satellites placed into orbit by the US Department of Defence. GPS was originally intended for military applications, but in the 1980s the government made the system available for civilian use. GPS works in any weather conditions, anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day.Purpose
TripTrack is a product designed to assist the user in creating SARS-compliant logbook reports for tax purposes as well as Fleet Management purposes. This product utilises GPS satellite technology.Electromagnetic Interference
Electromagnetic interference (or EMI) is a disturbance that affects an electrical circuit due to either electromagnetic induction or electromagnetic radiation emitted from an external source. (Wikipedia)EMI can result in delays in the recording time of the TripTrack device, resulting in lost or partial trips.
Typical causes of EMI in the vehicle are car radios/MP3/CD, phone handsfree kits, other GPS navigation devices or the vehicle's electronics.
The typical workaround for EMI is to bring the TripTrack device into a space that is unaffected by EMI, i.e. on the dashboard - normally utilising a USB extention cable.
If you think you are affected by EMI you are welcome to contact support@triptrack.co.za and request assistance.
Disclaimer for use and general application
Certain atmospheric factors and other sources of error can affect the accuracy of GPS receivers. It is vital, for accuracy, to ensure that the unit has a direct line of sight with the sky. Waiting for full lock (flashing blue light) is vital to maximize accuracy.Due to the above variable factors, there will be a discrepancy between car odometer readings and GPS mileage reports. For example, TripTrack is designed to operate under normal conditions (see Technical Specifications in User Manual) – in some areas of RSA the inside temperature of a car, in full sunlight, can reach 130 deg Celsius. Damage caused by extreme heat is not covered by the 12 month limited warranty.
It must therefore be clearly understood by users to apply and use the TripTrack (products and software) in accordance with the User Manual.

Users agree to completely indemnify the owners and their employees against any inaccuracies caused by the incorrect GPS data, satellite drift/GPS wander, or any deficiencies in the Global Positioning System (GPS) or application software and hold them harmless against loss or damages resulting in any way whatsoever.Last updated: 19 September 2011
